PhD student in Archaeology with General Specialisation, with focus on Numismatics
Project description
The four-year doctoral studies will be placed at the unit of Archaeology and will follow the examination requirements of the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies, Stockholm University. They are financed by Gunnar Ekström’s Foundation for Numismatic Research and Sven Svensson’s Foundation for Numismatics. The research must be within numismatic or monetary history, i.e. coins in their administrative, cultural, economic, political or social context in a broad sense, in Northern Europe from the Viking Age to the Early Modern Period. The research must deal with activities or concepts that have left material traces.
Qualification requirements
In order to be admitted to postgraduate education, the applicant must have the general and specific entry requirements. The qualification requirements must be met by the deadline for applications.
You meet general entry requirements if you have completed a second-cycle degree, or completed courses equivalent to at least 240 higher education credits, of which 60 credits must be in the second cycle, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or elsewhere.
Concerning the Specific entry requirements, described in the general syllabus for doctoral studies in the field archaeology within the subfield of general archaeology, it is required to have successfully completed second cycle level courses to at least 30 credits, including an examination task of at least 15 credits, or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or elsewhere. Concerning the Specific entry requirements, it is required to know Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or English. The language skills must comprise ability to read, speak and write.
